The plight of immigrant labour employed by Telecom’s contractors has again made the news.
The EPMU has issued a call for financial support to assist a Filipino whose wife has been diagnosed with lung cancer. The worker, along with 43 other immigrant workers, formerly employed by Telecom contactor Transfield, was already barely surviving on support from the Union’s welfare fund and now faces huge medical expenses to obtain the appropriate medical treatment for his wife.
